Juniper Project Facility
JJR assembled the design and construction team to successfully deliver this project in La Brea, Trinidad in the West Indies in 420 days. The design team was carefully selected to include engineers local to the island and project area (Lee Young Partners) to provide expertise in the local soil engineering and permit process as the DOR, as well as Louisiana local engineers to complete the engineering package.
The scope of work included designing a helical pile post tension foundation and a pre-engineered metal building facility to adequately support the end users’ application of fabricating a 500 ton topside deck for an offshore platform. To support this facility, major enhancements to stabilize the shoreline, stabilize the existing yard for new heavy loads, and upgrade the utility infrastructure of the site were necessary and incorporated. To ensure quality, JJR procured all major materials (piling, testing equipment, post- tension cables, metal building, overhead cranes, electrical supplies) in the U.S., packaged them in containers, and shipped them to Trindad via the Port of Houston. All labor was provided from the island as required by local law. SoTech Contractors in La Brea, and TOFCO’s in house labor was coordinated by JJR’s project management team in Houma, Louisiana to make the installations.
